Hand-Pegged Artisan-Made Sidetable

I found this little rustic hand-pegged table at a farm sale one Saturday. I was out looking for dressers but of course there were none. Then I spotted this unusual table under a pile of items for sale. I asked if it was for sale and after a short discussion I took this home with me.

The rustic side table rebuilt and transformed.

The old white latex paint without primer was peeling off this table in strips so my dear husband totally dismantled it, sanded off the chippy paint and replaced the very warped maple top board with some tongue and grove pine boards he had in his stash.

A rescue was needed for a warped top/crummy paint.

Once it well sanded we were delighted to find the table is a lovely, hard and compact maple! The three replacement boards for the top were glued, filled and sanded before he was satisfied.

Before painting but with a new top, glued, filled, sanded.

I surmise that this is a home-made artisan crafted table due to the hand carved pegs that hold the pieces together.

The pegs.

I painted the table legs in ASCP Old White and the two shelves in ASCP Coco. The Coco was dark waxed and the Old White legs, pegs and crossbars were finished in clear wax.

The table after its restoration once again.

This table dimensions are 46” wide, 19.5” deep and 36” tall. This piece would be perfect anyplace in the home that needs a petite table for a lamp and a few accessories.

This hand-pegged, artisan table is for sale at $59.00.
