Farmhouse Table Make Over

I’ve been very busy working in the gardens these days. With 2 ½ acres of gardens and grass to keep up, there is always a LOT to do outdoors here.

But during the heat of the afternoon, I did slip over to the studio and waxed the base of a great old walnut farmhouse table with six gorgeous, thick and chunky turned legs with white porcelain casters. This is one solid table and a real prize, I think. It’s extendable and has nice leaf to make it even wider.

After months of dibble and dabble on this vintage piece, I finally made some real progress today.

Here is a quick snapshot of the table on the studio’s back porch after the top and leaf has been sanded but before it was stained.

All that is left is to put a tiny bit of glue on the leaf, set it up in the studio, stage and photograph it. I’ll tell you all about the paint and wax I used in that post. Stay please tuned.

Oh, and it comes with six, sturdy as they come “T” back oak chairs. This will make a great family dining table, sturdy craft table or large-scale office table.

Table: 41” L X 32 ½” W X 30” H
Leaf: 41” L X 11” W
Chairs: 38” tall X 16” wide (at the seat)
