Small House Thanksgiving Mantle

When it was time to create our Thanksgiving Mantle this year I made a few decisions early on;

Candle box side left

Our simple mantle of candles, candle box and hydrangea.

They included;

  • To not have my Thanksgiving mantle look like Christmas just yet.
  • To not buy a thing.
  • To only shop my house.

This meant using candles, hydrangea, neutral wreaths and a few mini-pumpkins I already had on hand to accent our primitive looking mantle.

Natural materials; wreaths, pinecones and nuts in their shells, hydrangea and candles give me the simple look of nature that I prefer.

I am still waiting for the contractor bid for the built-in bookcases and someday this wall will be painted and updated.

Here are some ideas inspired by ordinary homes of ordinary people. Enjoy!

This is how our mantle turned out this year.

Happy Thanksgiving all!
